New York City's The Wrecking Club, founded by former accountant Tom Daly, opened its doors last year. It lets participants smash household and office goods as a way to relieve stress.

Tom Daly opened this destruction room in New York City in February 2017. People come to the roughly 300-square-foot space in midtown Manhattan to “smash, bash, hit and break” almost anything they want — for a price.

Smashing things may not seem at first blush to be a winning idea to wrap a business around. Since March, however, nearly 1,500 people have shown up to break housewares, electronics and furniture at the Wrecking Club, two reinforced rooms in the basement of a building in the garment district of Manhattan.

At The Wrecking Club, you can whack, hit, break and demolish whatever you want. Yes, really. The club’s slogan is literally, “Where people come to smash stuff to pieces.”
